NEW PERSPECTIVE
His perspective on life and his career changed after he sustained multiple fractures and damage to his liver in a cycling accident in May 2021. In 2022 he became ambassador for the Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation in appreciation of the first responders who attended the incident. "Those who saw the crash said it looked pretty bad, and it makes you think about how it could have gone. It looks like I will not have any permanent injuries, so I am very happy. I have thought more about my health and life after my sporting career. I've got a different perspective on things, and I'm just glad I can get well and live a normal life. That is the most important thing. It is clear that becoming a father does something to you. I have had the family in mind a lot. The most important thing is to get well in order to live a life with them, then the rest will follow." (norskluftambulanse.no, 20 Jun 2022; tv2.no, 19 Jun 2021)
