COACH'S MOTIVATION
In 2011 she was finding it difficult to balance her training with her job, and was thinking about giving up speed skating. However, around this time she met her coach from high school Naoki Kotake, who encouraged her to aim for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. Kotake coached her voluntarily and also helped her find a sponsor, which relieved some of the financial pressure.
