INTERNATIONAL UPBRINGING
He was born in Belgium and moved to the United States of America at age two. He took up roller speed skating there at age six, and then at age 11 he relocated to Milan, Italy, where he went on to win a number of Italian national titles in roller speed skating. "Moving to Milan, Italy, when I was 11 years old was both a huge cultural and also a skating shock. Italy has turned out to be the perfect place for me to learn and enhance both my technical skills and the physical side of [roller] speed skating."
