OTHER ACTIVITIES
In 2023 he founded a charity event called Skate4Kids, which held its first event at the Calgary Olympic Oval in Canada. "To give you a bit of a background as to how I got here, I landed back in Calgary in March [2023] following my most successful season to date. It was all fantastic until I found myself falling into a bit of a hole mentally in the off-season. Through working closely with a couple of our team's sports psychs, I went over a number of my personal values and found that giving back to the community that inspires me to be the best I can be while wearing the maple leaf on my chest is something I care about deeply. This event has been a thought on my mind for a number of years now, but I decided it was time to finally take the next steps towards making it a reality." BUSINESS OWNER
He owns Hayloft Cafe, a mobile espresso bar in Calgary, AB, Canada. "Being a national team speed skater, I don't have time to sit on the side of the street and wait for people to come and get coffee. I'm in full control of the hours of operation of the truck, and it allows me to work when I can work."
