In December 2020 he fractured the fibula bone in his left leg, dislocated his left ankle and damaged ligaments after he was involved in a crash with national teammate Adriaan Dewagtere during a training session in Hasselt, Belgium. He underwent surgery and missed the remainder of the 2020/21 season.
