Before the Ice: Skaters on ISU Figure Skating World Championships 2026
25 Mar 2026
Ahead of the ISU Figure Skating World Championships 2026 in Prague, skaters share their thoughts before taking the ice. They reflect on their journeys, expectations, and what this moment means to them.
Kaori Sakamoto (JPN)
She is one of the most decorated female skaters and for one last time, she wants to leave it all out on the ice: Kaori Sakamoto of Japan is determined to cap off her amazing career with her best performances at the ISU Figure Skating World Championships in Prague. “It is not just about myself but also about everyone who is watching me,” the three-time ISU World Champion said. “I hope that they can feel satisfied and can get a sense of “this is her graduation”.
Amber Glenn (USA)
It has been a long journey for Amber Glenn and now the Olympic Team Champion has come to Prague for the ISU Figure Skating World Championships to enjoy the competition. “I’m just happy to be here competing,” Glenn noted. After achieving two of her biggest goals by landing the triple Axel and competing at the Olympic Games the U.S. Champion is aiming for two clean programs and hopes to leave Prague with a feeling of fulfillment.
Minerva Hase & Nikita Volodin (GER)
Germany’s top Pair Skaters Minerva Hase & Nikita Volodin are coming with a lot of confidence to the ISU Figure Skating World Championships in Prague. With an Olympic bronze medal under their belt, the two-time ISU World medalists are eager to perform again for a big crowd. “We can feel each other way better and that helps us also to skate on the ice with more emotions for the audience,” Hase commented.
Adam Siao Him Fa (FRA)
Coming off the Olympic Games, Adam Siao Him Fa of France wants to use his new experience gained and impress the audience one more with his style and technique on the ice at the ISU Figure Skating World Championships in Prague. “I want to skate with everything that I have and I want to show how much I love skating,” he said. Siao Him Fa feels well prepared and can’t wait to hit the ice at the O2 Arena for his competition.
Lilah Fear & Lewis Gibson
Reigning ISU World bronze medalists Lilah Fear & Lewis Gibson are motivated and excited to take the ice at the ISU Figure Skating World Championships in Prague. After the Free Dance at the Olympic Games did not go as well as they had hoped, Lilah realized how unconditionally loved she is. “It’s so easy to fear mistakes and to feel like my worth depends on that and I learned that it really doesn’t,” she noted. Now, refreshed, the British Ice Dancers are ready to show their best again in Prague.
