Gilles/Poirier teamed up in 2011. He sucessfully competed before with Vanessa Crone. Gilles competed at the international junior level for the USA. Her brother Todd competed in Ice Dance and her twin sister Alexe in singles at the international level. Gilles received Canadian citizenship in December 2013. She got married to Nathan Kelly in 2022. The couple missed the 2023 National Championships and 2023 Four Continents Championships after Gilles was diagnosed with stage one ovarian cancer and underwent precautionary surgery.
