Nam started skating at age 5 and competed in singles. At the 1999 US Championships she won the silver medal at age 13. In the 2000/01 season she suffered a hip injury that esentially ended her career as a singles skater. In 2005, she teamed up with Leftheris. Leftheris started to skate at age 12 after watching the 1994 Olympic Winter Games. He had skated with five different partners between 1999-2005 before teaming up with Nam.
