Ina began skating at the age of four. She was born in Japan and emigrated with her parents to the States as a baby but she speaks Japanese. Ina competed in singles for Japan in junior competitions. Best result: 1987 World Juniors, 8th. She hails from an athletic family as her grandfather was a 1924 Olympic track competitor, her grandmother played tennis at Wimbledon, and her mother is an Asian Games swimming champion. Ina/Zimmerman teamed up in the summer of 1998 when Ina/Dungjen split up. The figure skater Zimmerman admires most is two time Olympic Champion Artur Dmitriev who is now training with them in Hackensack and who choreographed their Free Skating Program.
