Ilinykh/Zhiganshin teamed up in spring 2014. Ilinykh is the 2014 Olympic bronze medalist with Nikita Katsalapov as well as a gold medalist in the Olympic team event 2014 while Zhiganshin is the 2012 World Junior Champion with Victoria Sinitsina. His older sister Nelli competed in Ice Dance at the World and Olympic level, representing Germany.
