Ilinykh/Katsalapov are gold medalists with the team at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. They had skated together earlier in their career but split up in 2005. He then skated with Angelina Kabysheva. Ilinykh/Katsalapov reunited in spring 2008 in Moscow and right away placed 4th at Russian Junior Nationals. They switched coaches in May 2011.
