Zhang/Zhang, who are not related to each other, teamed up in 1997. Zhang/Zhang performed a quadruple twist at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Oberstdorf. It was the first quadruple twist ever performed at Junior Worlds. The team used to practise the quadruple throw Salchow. Dan Zhang took a hard fall on the quad throw Salchow attempt at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in the Free Skating and sprained ligaments in her knee. She nevertheless finished the performance. Zhang/Zhang sat out the 2010/11 season as he was recovering from a ligament injury to his hand.
