Matthaei/Liebers teamed up in 2022. She competed at the World Junior level with former partner Maximilian Pfisterer and retired from competitive skating in 2019, but came back to skate with Liebers. The couple relocated to Italy for training in 2023. Coach Barbara Fusar Poli (ITA) is the 2001 World Ice Dance Champion (with Maurizio Margaglio).
