    Paul/Islam teamed up in February 2009 and took silver at the Junior World Championships 2010 after skating together only for a little more than a year. Islam's father is an ice dance coach and one of the former coaches of the couple. His mother is a judge (for singles and pairs). He also played hockey, lacrosse and soccer. His sister Rachel is a nationally ranked middle distance runner. The couple switched coaches following the 2014/15 season and moved back to Canada for training after training in Detroit (USA) since 2012. Coaches Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon are the 2006 and 2007 World silver medalists.
