Mikhailov is the 2008 National Junior silver medallist. He trained in St. Petersburg for 3,5 years but moved back to Moscow with his family in January 2008 and returned to his previous coach Elena Buianova. Buianova (Vodorezova) is the 1983 European silver and World bronze medalist.
