Ivan Dinev is the first skater from Bulgaria to land a quadruple toeloop in competition (Worlds 1999). He is also the first skater of his country to medal in a Grand Prix event (Trophee Lalique 1999). He competed in 14 European Championships since 1992, only missing the event in 2005. Dinev is married and has a son, Ivan jr. (born in spring 2002).
