Samokhin is the first skater from Israel to win an ISU Championship title (World Junior title in 2016) and the first Israeli single skater to qualify for the ISU Junior GP Final (2015). He is coached by his father. His brother Stanislav (seven and a half years older) competed at the international level in figure skating as well, representing Russia and then Israel. Samohin's luggage with his skates was lost on the way to the European Championships 2017 and he had to compete in his brother's skates.
