Mahbanoozadeh also trains in wushu (Chinese martial arts). He graduated from high school with distinctions such as AP Scholar, National Merit Commanded Scholar and is a member of the US Figure Skating Scholastic Honors Team. Mahbanoozadeh switched coaches in November 2009. He is collecting sweaters at national and international competitions.
