Bychenko is the first skater from Israel to win a medal at the European Championships (silver in 2016). He competed internationally for Ukraine until 2009. He has moved to the USA for training. He got married to Alona, a former competitive Ice Dancer from Ukraine, in spring 2021. Coach Galit Chait Moracci is the 2002 World Ice Dance bronze medalist (with Sergei Sakhnovski).
