“Vitruvian Man” Adam Siao Him Fa tops Finlandia Trophy Short Program
21 Nov 2025
France’s Adam Siao Him Fa tops the Men’s Short Program as the ISU Grand Prix Finlandia Trophy continued Friday in Helsinki, Finland. There were a few surprises, and a lot can still happen in the Free Skating, with the last spots for the ISU Grand Prix Final on the line.

Two-time ISU European Champion Adam Siao Him Fa of France skated to a slim lead with his competitors snapping at his heels. Canada’s Stephen Gogolev surprisingly sits in second place while four-time ISU World medalist, Yuma Kagiyama of Japan, came third.

Siao Him Fa had chosen “Leonardo da Vinci” as the theme of his Short Program, and wore an interesting costume, reminiscent of Leonardo da Vinci’s drawing of the Vitruvian Man.
The Frenchman landed a clean quad Lutz and triple Axel, but the quad toe-double toe combination was shaky. The 2024 ISU World bronze medalist picked up a season’s best of 92.50 points.
“It was quite stressful today, but in the moment, when I stepped on the ice, I felt way better and the audience was great,” Siao Him Fa said. “I'm very happy to be back here in Finland.”
He is competing in the first and last ISU Grand Prix event this season, in Angers in France, and here in Helsinki.
"It was good for me to have a long preparation time between Angers and Finland because, after Angers, I felt a little down, and I was really lacking energy and motivation,” Siao Him Fa explained. “It was better to have more preparation time, than just doing competition after competition.”
Gogolev put out a strong performance to “Mugzy’s Move” that was highlighted by a quad toe-triple toe and quad Salchow to score 89.35 points. The Canadian sits in medal position at an ISU Grand Prix for the very first time.

“I'm really happy to be here, in the top three, especially sitting next to the top skaters in the world,” Gogolev shared.
He believes his consistency this season is down to several factors.
“One is that I'm finally back in Toronto training. I am healthy. I have been injury-free for this upcoming season. Also I started working more with Benoit (Richaud, choreographer), who choreographed both of my programs.”
Hot favorite Kagiyama started well in his entertaining program to “I Wish”, with a quad toe-triple toe combination, but then he fell on the quad Salchow and stepped out of the triple Axel.

The Japanese Champion recovered to produce excellent spins and footwork, and earned 88.16 points.
“I really liked the audience’s cheering, and there was a warm atmosphere in the venue,” Kagiyama said.
“I'm obviously disappointed with two jumps, but throughout the performance I was able to make eye contact with the audience and enjoy the performance until the end.”
Jason Brown (USA) remains in medal contention in fourth place with a season’s best of 87.66 points, followed by Mihhail Selevko (EST) on 84.18 points. Roman Sadovsky (CAN) finished sixth at 82.91 points.
