2025 ISU World bronze medalist Mone Chiba of Japan came out on top in an exciting Women’s Free Skating, claiming the first ISU Grand Prix title of her career. Isabeau Levito (USA) secured the silver medal while Ami Nakai of Japan climbed one spot to earn the bronze.
Chiba was spectacular in her “Romeo and Juliet” program that was highlighted by four clean triple jumps and beautiful spins. However, three more triple jumps were slightly under-rotated. Nevertheless, the 2024 ISU Four Continents Champion posted a new personal best score of 144.94 points in the Free Skating and accumulated 217.23 points, another personal best.
“I was nervous today, but I was very happy that I was able to skate freely,” Chiba commented. “I'm very happy that I was able to finish this first Grand Prix event of the season with the best result possible and I'm able to move forward to my second Grand Prix.
“In both the short program and free program, there are obviously things that I can improve on, but as in spite of my nerves, I was able to put it together. I want to be able to fight for even cleaner programs in the next event,” the ISU World bronze medalist added.
Chiba collected 15 points for the ISU Grand Prix standings will compete again at the sixth and last event of the series, the ISU Grand Prix Finlandia Trophy in Helsinki (FIN).

Levito impressed with her elegant performance to “Cinema Paradiso”. The 2024 World silver medalist completed four clean triple jumps and difficult spins to earn 137.97 points for 209.77 points overall.
“I felt very relaxed and at home today, and I was just very hopeful that it would translate to the ice,” Levito noted. “I feel like I did very well today, and I'm satisfied with my performance, so I'm just very happy.”
With her silver medal from Canada and a fourth-place finish from France, the 18-year-old now has 22 points towards the ISU Grand Prix standings and will have to wait and see if that is enough to make the Final.
“I will be resting a little bit, but I think I will change my boots and just kind of take time to calm down and have a more relaxed training schedule,” Levito explained. “I’ll have a nice little break before the rest of my season continues.”

Skating to “What a Wonderful World”, Nakai popped her planned triple Axel into a double and stumbled but she recovered to land six solid triple jumps to score 136.54 points. With a total of 203.09 points, the 2025 ISU Grand Prix de France Champion captured the bronze medal.
“At the end of my program the thought crossed my mind that I might have done enough to be on the podium, but I wasn’t sure,” she said.
Nakai got 15 points from her win in France and 11 for the bronze in Canada. With 26 points, the Japanese skater most likely will advance to the ISU Grand Prix Final in her home country. She already has a plan.
“I think I'll be using that time (until the Final) to brush up on my programs. It is also true that the percentage of landing my triple Axel, is somewhat declining. I know that I need to make improvements on that. I'd also like to get more flow in my programs.”
