Guignard/Fabbri (ITA) celebrate European Ice Dance hat-trick in style
01 Feb 2025
Charlène Guignard/Marco Fabbri (ITA) danced to their third consecutive ISU European title as the Ice Dance event at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships 2025 concluded Saturday in Tallinn (EST) with the Free Dance.
The Italian couple completed their European hat-trick in style, winning with six points to spare. Evgeniia Lopareva/Geoffrey Brissaud of France captured the silver, their first ISU Championship medal, while two-time ISU European silver medalists Lilah Fear/Lewis Gibson of Great Britain settled for the bronze.
Favorites Guignard/Fabbri showed all their experience and mastership of the craft by portraying robots in their unusual Free Dance to “Robotboys Audition” and “Dubstepic Symph”. The two-time ISU World medalists picked up a level four for the lifts, dance spin and her set of twizzles while the step sequences were rated a level three and two. Guignard/Fabbri scored 127.89 points for the Free Dance, just below their season's best and comfortably won with 212.12 points overall.

“I am very happy this time with Europeans, because, not to brag, but at the score level we dominated and we are satisfied that we had an advantage score wise while at previous Europeans it was somewhat risky. We are extremely happy,” Fabbri said.
“We did a lot of the work in the last month and a half after the Grand Prix Final on the program. It showed tonight. We are proud of what we put on the ice today,” he added.
Guignard admitted to nerves as she took to the ice.
“We skated well, but not technically perfect. In the first 30 seconds, my legs were so nervous, I was so tense and my legs were tense. But after the first lift and the twizzles I felt relieved. These Europeans I was able to enjoy myself more than the other two,” she said.
Lopareva/Brissaud surprised the crowd with their Techno dance to “Elephant”, “Fugue in D minor” and “360” and completed level-four twizzles and lifts to score 124.01 points. The French Champions ranked fourth in the Free Dance but held on to second place with 206.76 points.

“We feel amazing,” Lopareva commented. “Our goal was third place. We've come even higher, so that’s even better.”
Brissaud agreed: “It is our first medal at the Europeans, so it’s like a child’s dream. We could not imagine that this is going to happen. And then it happened.
“I think we were even more stressed than yesterday. And yet we told ourselves that we've done it a billion times and if we're together and we do it together, we'll share the stress and we will do it. And it's true, it went very well, we got a season's best, and if we stay second, it's superb, it's unexpected.”
Fear/Gibson got the crowd going with their Beyoncé medley that included smooth footwork and interesting lifts. The ISU Grand Prix Final bronze medalists were second in the Free Dance with 124.45 points but remained in third place on 206.02 points to claim their third consecutive medal at the ISU European Championships.

“We always try to focus on the feeling that we have after the skate because that’s all we can control. And today it was priceless, we are so proud of ourselves, especially how we showed up after yesterday,” Fear shared.
“We came to fight and we did exactly what we wanted out there and that’s what has worth for us and no matter color would be this medal.”
“Of course we want to go up in the colors [of medals], we don’t want to act shy,” Gibson admitted.
“But as Lilah has said this feeling [of satisfaction] matters, that’s why we love this sport.”
The 2023 ISU European bronze medalists Juulia Turkkila/Matthias Versluis (FIN) delivered an excellent Tango Free Dance to come third in that segment but finished fourth at 205.69 points. Olivia Smart/Tim Dieck (ESP) moved up from seventh to fifth with their “Dune” program (198.98 points). The 2024 ISU European bronze medalists Allison Reed/Saulius Ambrulevicius (LTU) came sixth at 196.66 points.
